Performing Umrah Steps
Ihram, Tawaf, Sa'ee, Halq

The 4 Key Steps of Umrah

  1. 1. Entering the State of Ihram

Before arriving at the Miqat boundary, purify your body, wear the white Ihram sheets, perform two Rakaats of prayer, and declare your Niyyah (intention) followed by reciting the Talbiyah continuously.

  2. 2. Performing Tawaf al-Umrah

Circumambulate the Holy Kaaba seven times counter-clockwise, starting and ending at the Hajar al-Aswad (Black Stone). Recite prayers and supplications during each circuit, then perform two Rakaats at Maqam Ibrahim.

  3. 3. Performing Sa'ee

Walk seven times back and forth between the hills of Safa and Marwah, starting at Safa. Reflect on the dedication of Hagar (AS) and maintain prayers throughout.

  4. 4. Halq or Taqseer (Haircut)

To formally exit the sacred state of Ihram, men should shave their heads (Halq) or trim their hair evenly (Taqseer). Women cut a small portion (fingertip-length) from the ends of their hair.
